Colleville sur Mer Cemetery is located at the top of the cliff overlooking the famous Omaha Beach.
Colleville-sur-Mer American Cemetery is the iconic cemetery for the sacrifice of American soldiers in World War II in Europe. Covering 70 hectares above Omaha Beach, it receives more than one million visitors per year. It occupies a perpetual concession granted by France to the United States of America and is managed by the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC).
You will find a magnificent Memorial and a very well done museum, also free.
Testimonies, reports and films accompany rich and very well explained exhibitions.
The whole is accessible to all ages, allowing the transmission and the duty of memory wished by the Americans.
Admission to the cemetery closes 15 minutes before closing time and is open on host country holidays.
When the cemetery is open, staff members are on duty in the visitor center to answer questions and escort loved ones to graves and memorial sites.
The cemetery is open to the public every day except December 25 and January 1.
Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from April 15 to September 15 and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. the rest of the year.
